The Republic of South Ossetia, during the celebration of Orthodox Easter - Holy Resurrection of Christ, from April 21 to April 25, will open a checkpoint on the border with Georgia that has been closed for more than two years.

The corresponding order was signed on April 20 by President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov.

"In connection with the celebration of Orthodox Easter - Holy Resurrection of Christ, temporarily from 08:00 on April 21, 2022 to 08:00 on April 25, 2022, to resume the work of the Razdakhan, Sinagur and Pereu checkpoints. This order enters into effective from the date of its signing," the decree says.

The border of South Ossetia with Georgia was closed on September 3, 2019 due to the tense situation on the border near the village of Uista, near which the illegal Georgian police checkpoint had previously been set up.
