Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko noted Tskhinval's comprehensive support for the Russian special operation to protect Donbass.
"In the context of the events around Ukraine, I would also like to note Tskhinval's sincere, comprehensive support for the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass," he said on Thursday, speaking at the plenary meeting of the State Duma.
"Despite limited resources, the South Ossetian side hosted groups of refugees, collected and sent humanitarian aid to Donetsk and Lugansk. And President Anatoly Bibilov visited the Donetsk People's Republic in early April," the diplomat added, according to TASS.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the recognition of the sovereignty of the DPR and LPR in accordance with their constitutions within the borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions at the beginning of 2014. On February 24, Putin, in response to the request of the leaders of the Donbass republics for help, announced a special military operation.
