The memory of the victims of the genocide of the Ossetian people was honored in the capital of South Ossetia on Monday. The Head of State Alan Gagloev, representatives of the ministries, departments and the public laid flowers at the monument to 13 Communards at the Zguder cemetery.
On June 20, South Ossetia commemorates the victims of the genocide carried out by Georgia since 1920. For more than 100 years, thousands of Ossetians have become victims of inhuman crimes on ethnic grounds, more than 100 thousand were forced to leave their homes, many families still do not know the fate of their loved ones who have gone missing.
The President thanked everyone who came to commemorate the victims of the Ossetian genocide.
“There are a lot of sad dates in the history of the Ossetian people. Today we have gathered to honor the blessed memory of 13 Communards who were shot by Georgian punishers... We have no right to forget these people. We must tell our children about the exploits of our heroes,” the President said.
The head of state has noted that the Administration of Tskhinvali was instructed to bring the burial places of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the monument to 13 Communards into proper condition.
On June 20, 1920, 13 Communards were shot by Georgian punishers: Danil Valiev, Nikolai Valiev, Kishil Tskhovrebov, Nikolai Kotolov, Andrei Dzhioev, Pashka Khodov, Sosko Gobozov, Ivan Tedeev, Totr Tskhovrebov, Butu Dzeranov, Rezo Gigolaev, Sasha Gigolaev, Gigo Kumaritov.
