The team of the South Ossetian diplomatic mission became the owner of the gold cup in the football tournament, beating the combined teams of the embassies of Kenya, Senegal, Guinea, and reaching the final with the strongest team of the Zavidovo complex of the Russian Foreign Ministry. This was reported to IA "Res" by the press service of the Embassy of South Ossetia in Moscow.
A brilliant victory in such a prestigious international competition is dedicated to the 14th anniversary of Russia's recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. The Embassy team has also won the silver medal in the tennis tournament.
The Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia took part in the XXIIl Summer Diplomatic Games on the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Representatives of 30 diplomatic missions accredited in Russia, the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry and GlavUpDK, representatives of federal and regional departments, famous Russian athletes also took part in the sports competitions.
The diplomatic games held by the Russian Foreign Ministry are an old tradition, showing that diplomats are ready to put aside all political differences and are happy to try on a team uniform.
These are the only such sports in the world and there are no equals comparable in scale and format.
For almost two decades, GlavUpDK of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Russian Olympic Committee, has been organizing Diplomatic Games, in which representatives of diplomatic missions of countries near and far abroad, as well as international organizations, take part. Diplomats unofficially call this landmark sporting event the Olympic Diplomatic Games.
