The issue of mandatory completion of a migration card when entering the territory of Russia by South Ossetian citizens who do not have dual citizenship was discussed at the meeting of the joint commission on inter-parliamentary cooperation of the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.

The co-chair of the South Ossetian part of the Commission, Zaza Dryaev, noted that the agreement on the indefinite stay of citizens of South Ossetia in Russia was signed long ago, but citizens of South Ossetia must fill out migration cards at customs.

"When our citizens leave for the territory of Russia, they fill out migration cards, where they indicate the period of stay in the territory of the Russian Federation," said Dryaev.- But the citizens of our Republic are removed by agreement restrictions on the duration of stay on the territory of Russia."

In turn, Sergei Tsekov, a member of the RF Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, who arrived in the Republic to participate in the meeting of the joint commission on inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, has noted that filling out a migration card is not a restriction on staying in Russia.

“When a citizen of a foreign state enters the territory of the Russian Federation, a migration card must be filled out,” he said. - Those who come from South Ossetia to Russia must fill out a card, but this does not mean that they are obliged to return back within 90 days. They can stay on Russian territory for as long as they see fit.”

Tsekov noted that this way the flow of citizens who migrate to Russia is monitored, which is important for keeping statistics.
