Gassiev - Balogun: Murat Gassiev crushed the invincible American
A coach of Murat IRON Gassiev's Vitaly Slanov told Match TV that the next fight of the Russian boxer would take place no earlier than August.
On Friday evening in Yerevan, Gassiev defeated the American Mike Balogun by TKO in the second round and won the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight belt. For the Russian, this is the fourth early victory in four heavyweight fights. Gassiev previously held the WBA and IBF heavyweight belts.
“We have now reached the level. And we need to make a good base, so the next fight should be held no earlier than August,” Slanov said.
The ex-WBA and IBF cruiserweight champion Gassiev has 30 wins (23 of them by knockout) and one loss in professional boxing. For Balogun, this is the first defeat in the professional ring, before that the American had 20 wins (15 by knockout).
