Issues of political, economic and cultural cooperation between South Ossetia and Syria were discussed at the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev with Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Russia Bashar Jaafari. The meeting took place on Friday at the Syrian embassy, the press service of the South Ossetian diplomatic mission reports.
Znaur Gassiev expressed his gratitude to the people and leadership of Syria for friendship and warm attitude, and at the end of the meeting he invited the head of the Syrian mission to South Ossetia.
Bashar Jaafari, in turn, has noted that the recognition of South Ossetia by Syria is dictated not only by the elementary observance of international law, but also by respect for the people of South Ossetia in the struggle for their independence.
The Syrian Ambassador also conveyed words of gratitude to the people of South Ossetia for their support in difficult times and accepted with pleasure the invitation to visit the Republic in the near future.
