Tskhinval took over the relay race of the Allied anti-fascist patriotic project "Our Great Motherland". The rally is dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the USSR Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War.
On Wednesday, the participants of the rally and the youth of the Republic unfurled a huge Victory Banner with an area of 200 square meters in the courtyard of the South Ossetian State University and at the Eternal Flame in Tskhinval.
Within the framework of the events, flowers were also laid at the Eternal Flame, where representatives of the leadership of South Ossetia, members of the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia, and schoolchildren took part.
Oleg Slyusarenko, coordinator of the Allied Anti-Fascist Patriotic Project, has told the Res agency that the project is aimed at preserving historical memory, the heroic and tragic pages of the Second World War.
“In the fight against the Nazi invaders, the fighting spirit of the multinational Soviet people was forged. We, contemporaries, have no right to consign to oblivion this memory of the feat of the Soviet people accomplished during the Great Patriotic War. The union project is based on a patriotic relay race - the solemn deployment of a large-scale banner of Victory," he said.
According to Slyusarenko, the project started on March 17 in Melitopol, the rally took place in the Crimea, Sevastopol and other cities.
“Nalchik passed the baton to Tskhinval, and Tskhinval will pass it to Vladikavkaz. The rally participants will visit hundreds of cities,” he said.
The relay race is being held in Tskhinval for the third time.
