Syria is counting on further cooperation with South Ossetia in all areas to increase the level of bilateral cooperation in the interests of the two countries and for the benefit of the peoples, President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad said in his congratulation to the head of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev on the Independence Day.
Assad has stressed that this day symbolizes the achieved freedom and independence, and also indicates the strength and steadfastness of Russia in its principles of upholding truth, justice and the right of peoples to self-determination.
“It is a great honor for me to convey heartfelt congratulations to you and the people of South Ossetia on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the recognition of your country's independence by the Russian Federation. I would like to thank you for your kind invitation to the upcoming significant events,” reads the congratulatory message published on the official website of President of South Ossetia.
On Saturday, August 26, South Ossetia is celebrating the Day of Recognition of Independence - on this day 15 years ago, after forcing Georgia to peace, the Russian Federation recognized the sovereignty of the Republic.
