South Ossetia is proud of its close friendship and alliance with Russia, based on a community of shared values, a common historical past, and a centuries-old military partnership, noted South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, speaking on Wednesday at the military parade to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Republic.
"In the most difficult days, our friends have always been with us, and first of all, Russia, with which we are forever bound by the unity of historical destinies, Russia, with which we are always together, – whether it is in the era of peaceful life or in the war years, whether it is a joyful celebration or a time of severe trials.
Even in difficult times for everyone, Russia shared with the fraternal people what it could, helped out and came to the aid in times of mortal danger,” the President said.
He noted that thanks to Russia, people of the Republic were able to withstand and come to victory, which was marked by the recognition of the independence of the South Ossetian state by the Russian Federation.
"We will never forget this.
We are proud and value our relations with Russia and will continue to work towards their development and strengthening.
On this significant day for South Ossetia, I consider it my duty again and again to thank Russia, the people and the leadership of the country from the bottom of my heart,” the President said.
