A round table dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held at the Hadji-Umar Mamsurov Tskhinval school No. 5 .
The Afghan veterans from South Ossetia, teachers and students of the educational institution took part in the round table.
The guest of honor at the event was the leader of the Communist Party of the Republic Stanislav Kochiev.
Chairman of the Union of Afghan Veterans Murat Guchmazov has emphasized that the events in Afghanistan had a significant impact on the course of world history.
“If we had not intervened, the Central Asian republics would have virtually disappeared, and drug trafficking would have come from there. We were not going to fight, we had to enter temporarily,” Guchmazov said.
After the event, the round table participants laid flowers at the graves of the fallen Afghans.
