The events took place in Sukhum at the end of September last year.
“The banner group and the parade squad of the unit marched solemnly along the main square of the Abkhaz capital during the military parade, and also took part in other state events. The special forces of the national army were awarded medals “30 years of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Abkhazia,” the statement of the press service reads.
During the ceremony for presenting medals, the Defense Minister of South Ossetia, Colonel Inal Sabanov, expressed gratitude to the battalion personnel for “representing South Ossetia in the fraternal republic in the most dignified way.”
“All events with your participation were carried out at the highest level. You demonstrated the true Ossetian spirit, nobility and commitment to national traditions,” Sabanov said.
He admonished the Special Forces for further success.
“Our goal is to make the Special Forces battalion the best unit in the republic. Together, by supporting each other, directing our main efforts to improve the level of combat training, we will achieve very good results. The leadership of the Defense Ministry will provide comprehensive support. All problematic issues related to the equipment of the unit will be resolved in stages," Inal Sabanov stressed.
