The leadership of the South Ossetian State University and the Russian scientists visited the territory of the future botanical garden

The delegation of the Research Institute "Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" led by Director, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Plugar again visited the South Ossetian State University.

According to the press service of the University, at the meeting with rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev, was discussed the issue of creating a botanical garden in the high-mountain village of Kroz on a plot of land owned by the South Ossetian University. It is also planned to create a flora museum here.

“The leadership of the South Ossetian State University, headed by Rector Vadim Tedeev, scientists from the Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the head of the administration of Dzau district, Vanda Tibilova, went up to Croz to determine on the spot the scope of work and the real possibilities of creating a territory here, where for research and educational purposes, plants from different parts of the world will be studied, including local species," press service has noted.

The scientists also examined the surroundings of Lake Koz in Dzau district.

The delegation of the Research Institute "Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" included: Doctor of Biology, Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of Flora and Vegetation Nikolay Ermakov, Doctor of Biology, Head of the Department of Industrial Crops and Biologically Active Substances Oksana Shevchuk and Head. of the dendrology lab, park science and landscape architecture Vladimir Gerasimchuk.

The A.A. Tibilov South Ossetian State University and the Federal State Budgetary Institution- the "Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences", signed a cooperation agreement in March of this year.

As part of the signed agreement, the most important areas of cooperation were determined to be the creation of a botanical garden and a flora museum on a plot of land of the South Ossetian State University in the village of Croz.
