The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry plans to open embassies of the Republic in Nicaragua and Venezuela, the head of the RSO Foreign Ministry, Akhsar Dzhioyev, said at the press conference in Tskhinval on Tuesday.
"This issue is in the field of view of our department and will be implemented if there are appropriate conditions," Dzhioev said.
He has also emphasized that the Foreign Ministry's agenda includes the issue of recognizing the Republic's independence by other countries.
"The work in this area will be carried out as long as the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry exists," he has noted.
The diplomat also spoke about the visit of the South Ossetian delegation to Nicaragua, where it took part in the ceremonial events dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Revolution.
According to Akhsar Dzhioev, they were warmly welcomed in Managua.
"We were very warmly received, the events were held with the participation of a large number of guests in a solemn atmosphere. It was clear how important this date is for all the people of Nicaragua," Dzhioev said.
He has reminded that Nicaragua is the second country to recognize the independence of South Ossetia, emphasizing that this "noble determination will forever remain in the historical memory of the Republic."
During the visit, the South Ossetian delegation held a number of meetings with representatives of the Nicaraguan government, including President Daniel Ortega and Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Colindres.
"President of Nicaragua received us very warmly, was interested in the situation in the Republic. He and his wife conveyed their best wishes to the people and President of South Ossetia," the Minister shared.
During the meetings with the Nicaraguan colleagues, the prospects for further cooperation in various areas were discussed, including through parliament, news agencies and the economy, Dzhioev has concluded.
