The first meeting this year in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) on the border of South Ossetia and Georgia will be held on February 14. This was reported to IA “Res” by the head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM, Yegor Kochiev.
“The agenda of our meetings does not change. The main issue that the South Ossetian party has been raising for several years now remains the removal of the illegal Georgian police post from the territory of South Ossetia, set up at the end of August 2019. During the meeting, incidents, accidents, and possible provocations that have occurred since the last meeting will be considered,” Kochiev said.
The IPRM format considers the issues related to security on the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia. In addition, a hotline is actively operating, and in the event of any incident, the parties contact their colleagues. Meetings in the IPRM format are held within the framework of the Geneva Discussions on Security in the Caucasus. Representatives of South Ossetia, Russia, Georgia, the European Union and the OSCE participate in the dialogue.
