Over two hundred cases: the KGB reported how many violators were detained this year on the border of South Ossetia

A total of 232 people were detained at various sections of the state border of South Ossetia over the first nine months of 2024, of which 117 violated the state border regime, and 114 violated the border regime. This was reported by the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.

For each fact of violation of legal regimes, the Border Service conducted investigations.

"As a result, criminal cases were initiated against 12 detainees, 130 people were subject to administrative fines, 17 people were expelled from the Republic, eight of them with fines, 56 violators were issued warnings, and the investigation of 16 detainees is ongoing," the Committee reported.

The KGB Border Service has reminded citizens and guests of the republic, as well as tourist groups planning to visit the settlements located in the border zone, of the need to have identity documents with them: a passport, an official ID, a birth certificate (for minors), and for foreign citizens, in addition, a pass to the border zone.

Citizens who have the right to enter (pass) the border zone, planning to carry out works, keep and graze livestock, must submit an application to the Border Service for a permit for economic and other activities at least three days before the start of the events.

In addition, to obtain a permit for commercial activities (hunting, fishing, etc.) in the border zone, it is necessary to present a certificate (permit) from the relevant government agency regulating this area.
