A delegation from South Ossetia is participating in the VIII World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad "Together with Russia", the chairperson of the coordinating council of Russian compatriots in South Ossetia Natalia Zhuykova told the "Res" news agency.
According to her, the event is taking place in Moscow and has brought together more than 400 leaders and activists of the Russian community from more than a hundred countries.
"The congress program has included three plenary sessions and several thematic sections, where the most pressing issues for the Russian community abroad will be discussed: preserving traditional and family values, preserving cultural and historical heritage, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots," Natalia Zhuykova has clarified.
As noted by the agency's interlocutor, one of the central topics of the congress will be preparations for the ceremonial events in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
