Nativity of Christ, one of the main twelve feasts of the Orthodox Church, was celebrated in South Ossetia.
In Tskhinval, festive services were held in the churches of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity, bringing together hundreds of believers.

Speaker of Parliament Alan Margiev attended the service in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev attended the service in the Church of the Holy Trinity.

Traditional nativity scenes were installed in both churches, symbolically depicting the Holy Family - the Infant Christ, the Mother of God and Joseph.
After the evening service, the cross procession began from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by a festive liturgy.
Prayers and chants filled the night city with an atmosphere of spiritual unity and solemnity.

"Today's holiday is a day of joy, faith and hope. A feeling of deep peace and grace fills the heart," one of the parishioners shared her feelings.

The Nativity of Christ marked the beginning of Christmastide - a special time for Orthodox Christians, which lasts until the Baptism of the Lord (Epiphany), which will be celebrated on January 19. On these days, it is customary to do good deeds, help those in need, visit and exchange gifts.
