The border guards were among the first to defend South Ossetia in difficult times, demonstrating fortitude and loyalty to their duty. This was noted by President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev at the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Border Service of the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.
Gagloev thanked for their faithful service and daily work for the good of the Motherland.
"Today you continue this important mission. The situation on the border remains difficult, but thanks to your professionalism and vigilance, people of South Ossetia live in peace and stability," the President's press service quotes him as saying.
The KGB Chairman Oleg Shiran also congratulated those gathered on the significant date and expressed confidence in the further expansion of efforts to protect the borders and work effectively in the interests of South Ossetia and its main strategic partner, the Russian Federation.
"We will be able to overcome all challenges and threats only through close cooperation within the framework of our operational and service activities in the areas of security protection and operational coverage of the state border, as well as the implementation of our joint activities with the FSB of Russia. I am convinced that, taking into account the results of operational and service activities, 2025 will be a period of increasing our capabilities in terms of strengthening the unified security contour of Russia and South Ossetia, which, in turn, will become a common contribution to achieving the goals of the special military operation," Oleg Shiran has noted.
The Border Service employees were also congratulated by the Head of the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of South Ossetia Vladimir Shchemelinin and the official representative of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of South Ossetia Yevgeny Ragozin, who, in turn, read out a congratulatory message to the leadership of the Border Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia from the First Deputy Director of the FSB - Head of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia Vladimir Kulishov. In accordance with the decree of the President, the distinguished employees of the Border Service of the KGB were awarded the medals "Defender of the Fatherland", "For Service in Guarding Peace in South Ossetia" and "In Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia".
