The South Ossetian MPs will be observing the presidential elections in Abkhazia

Members of the South Ossetian Parliament will take part in the second round of the presidential elections in Abkhazia as international observers, Zaza Driaev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations, told IA "Res".

"Our delegation is in Abkhazia. Polling stations will be opened on Saturday at 8:00 a.m., and we will begin observing the elections. We plan to visit as many polling stations as possible," Driaev said.

He has noted that as part of the trip, the South Ossetian delegation will meet with Speaker of the Abkhazian Parliament, Lasha Ashuba.

The delegation has included: Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Construction, Transport, Communications and Natural Resources Ivan Slanov and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Legality and Local Self-Government Alan Gagloev.

Former Vice President Badra Gunba and the opposition representative Adgur Ardzinba are running for the post of President of Abkhazia. In the first round, the candidates received 46.38% and 36.92% of the votes, respectively.
