On the eve of the Great Victory Day, the traditional patriotic campaign "St. George Ribbon" started in the capital of South Ossetia on Monday.
The first participants in the campaign has become President of the Republic Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Viktor Vodolatsky, Director of the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" Alexander Dzheus, who were presented with the main attribute of the Great Victory - the symbol of military glory.
Pupils from almost all schools in the city and districts of the Republic are taking part in this campaign.
During the campaign, schoolchildren handed out St. George ribbons to passers-by and told them about their history and meaning.
The event will last until Victory Day - May 9, on this day St. George's ribbons will also be distributed on Theater Square.
The event is organized by Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic.
