The Embassy of Abkhazia in South Ossetia is preparing a number of events for the 80th anniversary of the birth of the first President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Vladislav Ardzinba. This was reported by the Embassy's adviser, Alexandra Gagloeva.
"A conference dedicated to the eightieth anniversary of Vladislav Ardzinba will be held in Tskhinval on May 14," Gagloeva said. "Veterans, volunteers from South Ossetia who took part in the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia in 1992-1993, representatives of various ministries and departments will take part in it."
She has specified that a documentary film will also be shown as part of the conference.
Gagloeva has added that the Embassy is currently working to perpetuate the memory of Vladislav Ardzinba in South Ossetia.
"We are coordinating with the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry and the Tskhinval administration the issue of naming one of the streets of the capital in honor of Vladislav Ardzinba," Gagloeva has noted.
She has expressed hope that this initiative will be supported and will become another symbol of strong friendship between the Abkhaz and South Ossetian peoples.
