Ambassador of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev honored the memory of the natives of the Republic perisged near Rzhev during the Great Patriotic War, the press service of the diplomatic department reports.

"During the memorable visit to the city of Rzhev, the Ambassador paid tribute to his compatriots, participants of the Rzhev-Vyazma strategic offensive operation, who had died a heroic death near Rzhev: Senior Lieutenant Georgy Sardionovich Dzigoev (1914-1942), Political Instructor Abram Rostomovich Tedeev (1915-1942), Medical Instructor Khristofor Grigorievich Gubiev (1920-1942)," the press service has noted.

The Rzhev-Vyazma strategic offensive operation was the offensive operation of the Kalinin and Western Fronts, conducted from January 8 to April 20, 1942.

The continuation of the Soviet counter offensive near Moscow is one of the bloodiest operations of the Great Patriotic War.
