The date of September 9, 2008 marked the beginning of the fundamentally new stage of bilateral relations filled with the spirit of alliance and mutual trust, according to the congratulatory message of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Tuesday marks 17 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“The establishment of diplomatic relations between South Ossetia and Russia has allowed us to bring the interaction between our countries to the level of a genuine strategic partnership, laying the foundation for a comprehensive deepening of integration and multifaceted cooperation for the benefit of our peoples,” the message reads.
Dzhioev has noted that South Ossetia values the high level of trusting political dialogue between the two countries.
"The Republic is grateful to you personally and to the Russian Foreign Ministry for your active support in the important issues on the international agenda," the Minister has concluded.
