Seven South Ossetian families participated in the IV International Conference for Families of Missing Persons, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This was reported by the organization's press service.
The ICRC noted that across the world—from Colombia to Sri Lanka, from the Balkans to the Sahel—countless families live in agonizing uncertainty, unsure of the fate of their missing loved ones.
These families are the focus of the IV International Conference for Families of Missing Persons, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which took place from November 11 to 13 in a mixed format.
"The conference—the only global forum of its kind—brought together over 900 participants from over 50 countries, both remotely and in person, to share experience, strengthen solidarity, and demand a more decisive and long-term response to one of the most catastrophic consequences of conflict, migration, and violence," the Committee has noted.
Seven representatives of families whose relatives are missing as a result of the armed conflicts of the 1990s and 2008 gathered at the ICRC's Tskhinval office.
This is their third participation in the Conference.
