The South Ossetian delegation at the 66th round of the Geneva Discussions made a statement on the 35th anniversary of the Ered tragedy – the brutal massacre of the unarmed Ossetians by the Georgian militants occurred on March 18, 1991. This was reported by the press service of the South Ossetian Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the talks.

On March 19, 2026, the 66th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia concluded at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva. The discussions were held on the basis of the Medvedev-Sarkozy Plan of August 12 and the agreements on its implementation of September 8, 2008. "During the talks, it was emphasized that the memory of the victims of the Ered tragedy and many other victims of Georgia's terror against Ossetians and Abkhazians calls for justice and demands that all efforts be made to prevent the threat of renewed aggression from Georgia," the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry press service has noted.

The meeting was attended by the official representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, and the United States, co-chaired by the EU, UN, and OSCE. The South Ossetian delegation was led by State Advisor to the President Konstantin Kochiev.
