Statement of the South Ossetian delegation on the 24th round of the Geneva international discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus

June 25-26, 2013, a regular meeting of the international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia was held in Geneva. It was attended by delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the United States, as well as by the EU, the UN and the OSCE representatives. South Ossetian delegation was led by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.

During the Forum the delegation of South Ossetia held a series of meetings in the halls of the Russian companies. According to the press service of the Embassy of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation, Minister of Economic Development Zalina Khugati met with the Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation Igor Slyunyayev, Kaluga Region Governor Alexander Artamonov, representatives of the Russian business community. In the course of the meetings took place an exchange of views on current issues of bilateral cooperation and development opportunities of investment policy.

Issues of the forthcoming round of Geneva discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus were discussed today at a meeting of the South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov with members of the South Ossetian delegation in Geneva.

Tomorrow, June 21in the village of Ergneti, at the border of South Ossetia will be held the 35 meeting in the format of Mechanisms for Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI). As the news agency "Res" was informed at the office of Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement, the parties would discuss issues related to security in the areas adjacent to the border of South Ossetia."There will be an overview of the incidents taking place at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia since the last meeting of MPRI May 31.

On submitted by Georgia draft resolution on the status of displaced persons from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to United Nations General Assembly

Since 2009, the Government of Georgia had annually submitted to UN General Assembly its draft resolutions concerning displaced persons and refugees from Abhazia and South Ossetia. This year that annual resolution also is to be submitted to 67th plenary session of the UN General Assembly.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the current Georgian leader Mikhail Saakashvili is liable for the war in August 2008 and Russia will never change its position on the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

In his interview with the news agency "Res" one of the organizers of the program - the head of the International non-profit association «Renaissance Sandidzan» Radion Pukhaev has said, the events will start at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Budapest.

A citizen of South Ossetia Marik Dudaev, abducted in March 2004 from his native village Artsev (Tskhinval district of South Ossetia) by the Georgian special services, has been released from the Georgian prison.
