In the border village of Ergnet, the first meeting in the IPRM format in 2021 has ended

Georgian police officers are increasing their presence in the border areas, creating several stronger points, one of which is located on the territory of South Ossetia, said the head of the South Ossetian delegation, Yegor Kochiev, after the 98th meeting in the IPRM format ended and the first in 2021.

According to Kochiev, recent meetings are held in an incomplete format, this is due to the difficult epidemiological situation in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection.

South Ossetia and Georgia are discussing border incidents

A meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) is taking place on the South Ossetian-Georgian border. According to the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev, this is the first meeting in 2021.

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, last year, only two face-to-face meetings were held, although the hotline is constantly communicating. Representatives of the OSCE and the EU assured us that they would take all necessary measures to ensure security from the coronavirus,” the Plenipotentiary said.
