Statement of the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RF on accusations against Russian peacekeepers, made on June 1,2006, was commented to the correspondent of “Res” agency by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Alan Pliev:
“South Ossetia not only seized the opportunity to use the right for self-determination but consistently took a number of legal actions that allow to recognize our independence. The recognition by the International Community is obvious as the Republic of South Ossetia successfully subsists for 16 years in actual independence, has all, necessary for a modern, Sate attributes to carry out internal and external policies.
Considering the recent consecutive measures taken by the International Community for recognition a number of states, it should be noted that Republic of South Ossetia has far more legal grounds for such positive decisions.
At the same time South Ossetia does respects the principle of territorial integrity of states including neighboring Georgia. We also hope that the territorial integrity of independent Republic of South Ossetia will also be respected.”
