According to the decision of JCC « About the Joint Peacekeeping Forces » in the zone of the georgian-ossetian conflict (Protocol № 7 from December, 6th, 1994) the staff, having arrived on May, 21st in substitute for the Russian battalion from the structure of JPKF, has started the procedure of reception-transfer of the places of performance of duty, technical equipment and arms, as well as the housing stock and the objects of life support. The correspondent of «Res» was informed about it by the assistant of the commander of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the georgian-ossetian conflict on work with the mass-media, the captain Vladimir Ivanov.
«Today, on May, 22nd, the replacement of the staff at 9 observant Russian posts and the check point in the zone of the conflict will begin. By May, 25th, the newcomer Russian battalion of the peace-making forces will have started the performance of the tasks put by on peacekeeping in the zone of responsibility of JPKF. At the moment the rotation of the peacemakers passes without failures», he has told.
It is necessary to note, that the joint peacekeeping contingent, consisting of three battalions (the Russian, the Georgian and the North-Ossetian) has been entered into South Ossetia on the basis of the Dagomyss agreement of 1992. About 500 persons enter the structure of each of the battalions. The rotation of the Russian peacemakers in South Ossetia takes place according to the established norms. The last time the Russian battalion of JPKF was replaced one year ago from May, 29th till June, 3rd.
