«The peacemakers today are the basic guarantor of peace in the zone the conflict». The co-chairman of JCC from South Ossetia Boris Chochiev has declared that to the journalists on completion of the tripartite advisory meeting of the co-chairmen of JCC.
«It is necessary to be guided by the existing arrangements, according to which the joint peacekeeping forces will remain in the region before the final settlement of the georgian-ossetian conflict. Here when the world community recognizes the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, then we will solemnly see the peacemakers off. But for the present they will remain here», Boris Chochiev has told.
He has also noted, that the South-Ossetian part of JCC on settlement of the georgian-ossetian conflict is agree to go to Tbilisi, if the session of JCC will take place on the territory of the Russian embassy in Georgia.
«We have considered the offer of the Georgian co-chairman of JCC Merab Antadze on holding a plenary session in Tbilisi, and we are ready to go to Tbilisi, but, considering the circumstances, we shall demand, that the session would take place in the building of the embassy of the Russian Federation in Georgia, and that the ambassador of the Russian Federation would be the guarantor of safety of our delegation. If the Georgian party agrees to it, we can accept their offer on holding a meeting in Georgia. I mean the threats of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vano Merabishvili about physical liquidation of some of the representatives of the management of South Ossetia, including the co-chairman of JCC from South Ossetia, and the aspiration of Georgia to disorganize the negotiating process in the given format», Chochiev has declared.
«Today during the advisory meeting of the co-chairmen the South-Ossetian party has declared about its readiness for development of compromise variants of holding a plenary session of JCC in Tbilisi that would to the full guarantee safety to its delegation. We have once again expressed our opinion, that JCC remains the single effective format of the negotiating process on the georgian-ossetian settlement», Boris Chochiev has added.
