«Processes in Kosovo before and after the declaration of independence has a serious influence upon world’s political situation»- said the deputy Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia Yuri Dzidtsoity while commenting the situation over Kosovo to IA “Res” correspondent.
«Comparing South Ossetia with Kosovo one must first of all mention that the processes started in Kosovo in late 90s and the similar processes in South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transdnistria and Mountainous Karabakh are per se of parallel and caused not by internal reasons but external factors. That is the state which components were these former autonomies, in this case Soviet Union and Yugoslavia collapsed and this impels the population of autonomies to self determination. So called “separatism” was initiated from the side both in Kosovo and at post Soviet space»- said Yuri Dzidtsoity.
«South Ossetia legally has more solid grounds for independence than Kosovo. We proclaimed independence in the beginning of 1992 when Georgia was not recognized by the international community yet and Kosovo did the same in 1999 after Serbia entered UN. Nonetheless this circumstance is not of help to us as soon as in Kosovo acting powers interested in specific purposes at Balkans and Kosovo itself is of no interest to them. These are EU, UN, US and others. They refuse to recognize South Ossetia because we aspire to Russia and West is not happy with this»-concluded Yuri Dzidtsoity.
