The meeting of working groups within the frames of the incident prevention mechanism schdued for today was cancelled because of the Georgian side and the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM), reported the Special Representative for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev.

According to him, during the first meeting on 23 April, "an agreement had been reached that the next meeting would take place again in Ergneti". "Nonetheless, the Georgian side and the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) found a far-fetched excuse and insisted on the meeting to be held in Gori on the territory of Georgia, then in the village of Tirdznisi; this is the territory not adjacent to South Ossetia and therefore it goes against the agreements reached between the Presidents of the RF and France medvedev and Sarkozy, namely in the point, which speaks about he deployment of international mechanisms on the territory of Georgia in the areas adjacent to South Ossetia", stated Chochiev.
"Taking into consideration the fact that the meetings of working groups aim at implementation of these mechanisms we have pointed to the Head of EUMM in Georgia Hansjorg Haber and other participants that this is a continuation of agreements in accordance with Medvedev-Sarkozy plan. That uis, the meetings should take place in the zones adjacent to South Ossetia, while Gori does not belong to these zones, as well as Tirdznisi", emphasized Chochiev.
"We have sent a letter to Haber where we insisted that these meetings were held only in areas adjacent to South Ossetia, i.e. in the village of Ergneti. Yesterday, we received an answer from Haber stating that the meeting was cancelled and postponed to a later date. This means that the international organizations backing Georgia – EU, OSCE and UN, as well as the United States, unfortunately continue politicizing these issues. Today they propose Tirdznisi, tomorrow it will be Karaleti, the day after tomorrow – Gori and in a month they'll propose Tbilisi as the venue. Certainly, we will not accept this", stated Chochiev. "We have suggested to the EU representatives that a modest sum was allocated for construction of small module premises in the village of Ergneti, in the area adjacent to South Ossetia where these meetings should be held, out of huge financial support provided by the USA and EU states to Georgia, that is, by states, which were militarizing Georgia and which blessed Georgia for aggression in August 2008. Other locations are not acceptable for us, since were strictly adhere to the Medvedev-Sarkozy plan", concluded Chochiev.
