The US. Embassy in Russia did not timely issue visas to representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia. As one of the members of the South Ossetian delegation David Sanakoev reported to RES Agency, representatives of South Ossetia should participate in the Georgian-Ossetian dialogue hosted by George Mason University. "The South Ossetian delegation of four members should participate in the dialogue, but unfortunately, two persons did not timely receive visas. All necessary documents were submitted to the Embassy, but nonetheless, two persons were provided with visas, the other two were not", reported Sanakoev.
He underline that the meeting at George Mason University could be a positive step forward through people's diplomacy. "The US. Embassy cut down the implementation of positive steps in the Georgian-Ossetian dialogue within the studies of present conflict. This meeting was not political. It should be a meeting within the efforts taken through people's diplomacy."
He also reported that the other two participants obtained visas and have been taking part in the dialogue since 8 August. "Despite the aggressive approach of Georgian authorities towards South Ossetia and its citizens, we wish that this conflict is analyzed and an assessment is made to the events of last 20 years, in this particular case, at the level of experts and think-tanks", underlined Sanakoev.
It is worth mentioning that the Georgian-Ossetian dialogue is taking place until 15th March 2010. George Mason University professors and students interested in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict are also participating in the meetings within the frames of the dialogue.
