The visit of delegation from Nicaragua is an extremely important step forward in the process of South Ossetian’s integration into international community, stated the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Murat Djioev. “I believe it was an important visit – it was an important step forward in the process of South Ossetia’s integration into international community, and in further recognition of our state, it was important for the right of our people for equal participation in international affairs and equal existence under the same sky with other people of the world”.
According to Djioev, this visit was possible thanks to close cooperation between Foreign Ministries of South Ossetia and Nicaragua. “As we all remember, after the Russian Federation, the Republic of Nicaragua recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. Last year, a visit of Nicaragua Foreign Ministry to South Ossetia was organized. After that, we sent an invitation to the Foreign Minister of Nicaragua and the recent visit was organized”, reported Djioev. The Minister also emphasized that the representatives of Nicaragua delegation were impressed with the changes that took place in South Ossetia lately. “Our guests had also visited education institutions in Tskhinval and kindergartens”, said Djioev. “They saw the newly constructed buildings, the rehabilitated kindergartens, and that we pay special attention to the younger generation in our republic”. “The delegation of Nicaragua had also noticed that we care about our environment”, added Djioev. “The nature that we protect while we are reconstructing the buildings in the republic”.
As to future plans, the Foreign Minister noted that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia would continue its cooperation with Nicaragua. “We will also continue our efforts to achieve that other states would follow the example of the countries which had already recognized our state”, concluded the minister.
It is worth reminding that the official delegation of Nicaragua paid a visit to Tskhinval on 13-15 April. The sides signed the documents establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and Republic of Nicaragua at the level of embassies, as well as the Protocol on consultations between the foreign ministries of the two states.
