South Ossetia sends humanitarian aid to homeless fire victims in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in the Russian Federation

Today, 26 August, humanitarian aid was sent from the Republic of South Ossetia to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, RF. The humanitarian load was delivered to North Ossetia, and from there, to the final destination. “Today, we are sending humanitarian aid to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast to all those affected by forest fires”, reported Advisor to the President of South Ossetia on social policy Nigzar Gabaraev at the delivery point in North Ossetia-Alania.

”13 million rouble were transferred to a special account at the National Bank of South Ossetia for fire victims in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. These funds were collected through donations from residents and separate governing structures in the Republic, as well as donations collected by the Government of South Ossetia. Out of this sum, 5 millions were spent on purchasing goods to meet the victims’ immediate needs.”
The state Advisor underlined that the Center for Assistance to Fire Victims in Nizhny Novegorod Oblast provided with the lists of needed goods for the people. “We have purchased the goods worth of 5 million roubles. These are goods that are priority for the victims, not the things that we considere convinienet to buy. The humanitarian aid consists of winter clothes, bedroom furniture, tables, bed linen, domestic equipment and kitchenware. It was all agreed with the Center for Assistance to Victims of Fire in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast”, he said. Gabaraev also noted that this kind of assistance might be repeated. “Upon requests received from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and depending on the means that we have at our disposal, we might repeatedly send humanitarian aid”, said Gabaraev.
Two long trucks with humanitarian aid will be delivered to Viksinsky region (170 km from Nizhny Novgorod). This is the final destination determined for the delivery of the humanitarian load.
