Migration Service of South Ossetian Interior Ministry is introducing state fees for foreign nationals for crossing the Georgian-Ossetian state border, reported Soslan Tigiev, the Chief of Migration Service of the South Ossetian Interior Ministry.
"Migration Service of the Ministry of Interior informed the residents of South Ossetia's Leningor district crossing the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia on one-month deadline for obtaining a passport of the Republic of South Ossetia. After the specified period, in accordance with Article 14 of the Law "On state fees of South Ossetia, persons, who have not received their passports, will be considered foreign nationals and will have to pay entry and exit state fee when crossing the border in Leningor district of South Ossetia, " said Tigiev.
He noted that all conditions had been created for the population in Leningor district to timely obtain documents.
"Residents do not have to travel to Tskhinval passport office, they can obtain passports at their place of residence", explained Tigiev.
Tigiev noted that presently foreign nationals are not charged with any fees at their entry to or exit from Leningor district of South Ossetia. 65-year-old pensioner Sandro Margiev told IA RES:
"I am an ethnic Ossetians. Twenty years ago, we were forced to take endings "shvili" and "dze", and to get passports of GSSR (passport of a citizen of Georgia). Otherwise, you had no study or job opportunities. Now, everything has changed. Why should Ossetians living in South Ossetia have Georgian passports their pockets? I will change my passport. I still have Form #9. I was told that the passport blanks would arrive later.
Now, locals are trying to obtain South Ossetian passports as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, up to 500 people daily cross the borderline.
