Boris Chochiev, the Chairman of the Commission of South Ossetia on delimitation and demarcation of the border with Georgia, held a working meeting. The Secretary of the Commission Merab Chigoev, Deputy Chief of the RF FSB Border-Guard Department in South Ossetia Roman Tkachenko, Deputy Head of the South Ossetian KGB Border Guard Department Robert Gazzaev, Head of Artsev village administration Lev Goiaev, Deputy Head of Artsev Interior Department, Tskhinval District, Vyacheslav Kudziev attended the meeting.
The participants had a detailed exchange of views on the collective statement from the residents of Artsev village (23 families) that Russian border guards deployed their checkpoint not at the end of the village, where the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia is, but in the upper place, and hence, this has caused certain problems.
During the meeting it was decided to move the border checkpoint of the RF FSB in South Ossetia.
As it is known, the Georgian side refused to participate in joint work on demarcation of state border between South Ossetia and Georgia. South Ossetian authorities unilaterally carry out steps to set the line of the state border between the two countries.
It should be noted that throughout the 70 year-history of South Ossetia within the Georgian GSSR, the Georgian authorities without the consent of the authorities of South Ossetia repeatedly redraw and changed the boundaries of the autonomous oblast of South Ossetia and thus, the South Ossetian Commission has also a lot of work at other segments of the border with Georgia.
