Alan Gagloev: South Ossetia and Russia are a single family connected by the historic decision

The recognition of South Ossetia by Russia on August 26, 2008 was a timely and historic decision of the highest political leadership of the Russian Federation. We will always be grateful to our strategic partner for this step, - President Alan Gagloev has noted during his visit to the "Ossetian Farmstead".

The event was dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation.

The head of state emphasized the deep historical ties between the two countries and expressed gratitude to the Russian people.

"Today we have witnessed how the younger generation, together with our respected elders, is rejoicing on the eve of a significant day. We are obliged to participate in such events to show our children the importance of such historical events," Alan Gagloev said.

The President noted the significance of Moscow's decision to recognize the sovereignty of South Ossetia, mentioning the inseparable connection between the two peoples, dating back centuries.

"You know perfectly well that every citizen of our Republic, South Ossetia, perceives Russia as his great homeland. Starting from our ancestors, Ossetians have always associated their present and future with great Russia. Today we are witnessing integration processes directed towards the Russian Federation," the President added.

Alan Gagloev emphasized the commitment of the Republic's leadership to further strengthening ties with Russia.

"The Republic's leadership will do everything possible to ensure that South Ossetia and the Russian Federation remain one big family with common borders. Thank you, and may this holiday unite us!" the President has concluded.
