The Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia
According to the information of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia official Tbilisi intends to carry out large-scale provocations on the border with the Republic of South Ossetia. Within the frames of implementing this intention, the Georgian special services are planning to organize mass unapproved crossing of the Ossetian-Georgian border by the so-called "refugees" - the citizens who have voluntarily left the territory of South Ossetia during the Georgian aggression in August, 2008. The action is intended for compelling the south-ossetian party to apply force that will be widely spread by the Georgian and the western mass-media, and responsibility for its possible consequences is planned to shift onto the authorities of the Republic of South Ossetia. It is supposed in Tbilisi that this large-scale provocation can bring Saakashvili's regime political dividends in the course of campaign for world community misinformation about a real state of affairs in the sphere of settlement of relations between Georgia and South Ossetia and to prevent a serious stabilizing role of the Russian Federation in strengthening safety of the Republic of South Ossetia on the border with Georgia.
The evidence of this plan is an hysteria in the Georgian mass-media around the recent incident with shooting of the squad of the Frontier Service of KGB RSO near the village Lopan of Znaursky region and detention of the frontier violators in the village Koz in Dzausky region which was accompanied by a stream of false information on the part of official Georgian leadership, intended, first of all, for unsophisticated and uninformed audience in Georgia and in the West. At the same time, the Georgian authorities consciously evade cooperation with South Ossetia in any questions, including search for fair solution of the problem of people who have become hostages of the nationalist and aggressive policy of Georgia. There is no progress in questions of delimitation and demarcations of the border with South Ossetia; the South-Ossetian party repeatedly called Georgia to resolve this issue that would allow to provide further firm guarantees of safety to the population of the frontier areas to build the civilized and peaceful relations between two neighboring states within the frames of the international standards, taking into account the present realities. It has caused anxiety that the Georgian leadership consciously aggravates the situation in Georgia in places of compact settling of so-called «refugees».This category of the population are not paid allowances any more and are not rendered necessary social aid. At the same time some revanchist moods are being wakened in their surroundings and responsibility for hard conditions of the citizens is shifted onto the so-called «external enemy». More often official Tbilisi instead of the real help, promises people «fast returning to places of former residing» with support of the international community, thereby inducing them to participate in doubtful adventures and provocations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia expresses concern in connection with plans of Georgia to organize large-scale provocations against the RSO and is warning about the possible aggravation of the situation in connection with attempts of mass infringement of the frontier of the Republic. In case of their realization, it will be regarded as threat of safety of South Ossetia, and the Georgian party will be responsible for their organization and possible consequences.
