The Georgian leadership has been planning to carry out large- scale provocation on the South-Ossetian-Georgian frontier at the end of August. It has been reported to the news agency "Res" at the department of the Plenipotentiary of the RSO President on post conflict settlement. In this connection the Plenipotentiary of the RSO President on post conflict settlement Boris Chochiev has sent a letter to the head of the European Union Mission of Observers Andrzej Tyshkevich; the letter contains appeal to the EU observers to verify the information and take measures of preventing realization of the next provocation by the official Tbilisi.
«On behalf of participants of the Geneva discussions, on behalf of the Republic of South Ossetia we are apprising that according to the received information, at the end of August (approximately on August, 26) at instigation of the Georgian authorities, it is planned to hold the so-called" peace meetings "with participation of the former inhabitants of South Ossetia in several places of the territory of Georgia, directly adjoining to the frontier of the Republic of South Ossetia », - is written in the letter. Considering the above-mentioned, the South-Ossetian side declares that, in case of realization of similar provocation, the situation on the border will aggravate, «as we will be compelled to take all measures for preventing unauthorized crossing of the frontier, and all responsibility for the consequences will shift onto the Georgian side». It is also mentioned in the letter that in that case both the EU Mission of observers and Georgia, too, will be responsible for these actions. It should be reminded that on June, 30 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia made a statement that official Tbilisi was intending to carry out large-scale provocations on the frontier of the Republic of South Ossetia. It should be noticed that Georgia repeatedly organized gross provocations under the pretext of peace actions. The very first of them was the invasion in Tskhinval of 40 thousand armed people in 400 "Ikaruses" and hundreds cars; they motivated their actions by desire to take part in the peace meeting in the centre of Tskhinval. However, later on they sieged Tskhinval till March, 1990. They killed 6 men and 270 were crippled.
