South Ossetia will be striving for recognition its independence by Georgia. This was declared by the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia David Sanakoev at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

"The fact that we will or will not cooperate with the new authorities of Georgia depends on how they will build their policy. First of all, we will be striving for recognition the independence of South Ossetia by Georgia. We will be building neighborly relations with this country ", - said Sanakoev after the talks with his Russian counterpart.
According to him, South Ossetia is interested in the political processes in Georgia as in the neighboring country, stressing that the term "occupied territory" does not apply to South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
He has recalled that "even at the Geneva discussions the international experts clearly stated that neither South Ossetia nor Abkhazia were the occupied territories."
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has declared that Russia hopes that the new government of Georgia will follow the path of normalizing relations with its neighbors, including South Ossetia and Abkhazia, but negotiations for changing the status of these republics are not possible.
"We hope that the changes will allow the new Georgian government to move towards the normalization of relations with all its neighbors, including South Ossetia and Abkhazia. We are not going to hold any negotiations with Georgia, as actually with anyone else, on the fate of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, because the fate of these republics was determined by their people, "- underlined Lavrov.
It should be noted that an official meeting of the Foreign Ministers of South Ossetia and Russia has been held today in Moscow.
