A round table discussion on the topic "Eurasian Union - a new stage of integration" has recently been held in the capital of South Ossetia.
The organizer of the event - the South Ossetian branch of the Development Fund "Institute of Eurasian Studies", - invited to the discussion the South Ossetian and Russian experts, the public and political figures of the Republic.
As noted during the roundtable by the Chairman of the Ossetian branch of the Development Fund of the "Institute of Eurasian Studies", Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Zurab Kokoev, Eurasian Union, by analogy with the European Union, is to become a common economic space without any migration and border barriers.
"Eurasian Union is a project of the confederative union of sovereign states with a common political, economic, military and customs space, supposed to be established on the basis of the Union of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and the related integration structures of the CIS", - said Kokoev.
He has stressed that by joining the Eurasian Union will be developed the economy and the defense in South Ossetia, as well as in all its member states.
"The meeting of parliamentarians of South Ossetia with the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin and the official visit of the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov to the Russian Federation in the future will give our Republic the possibility of joining the Eurasian Union, as well as other associations," - said Kokoev.
According to the deputy of the Parliament of South Ossetia Gennady Kokoev, by joining the Eurasian Union South Ossetia will raise the standard of living of its population.
"It is necessary to create favorable conditions for joining the Eurasian Union. Moreover, joining the Customs Union will facilitate exchange of goods and for the South Ossetian enterprises will open the Russian market with creation of new jobs, "- underlined Kokoev.
The head of the Russian Cooperation representative office in South Ossetia Mikhail Stepanov said that by joining the Eurasian Union South Ossetia would promote the further recognition of its sovereignty by other countries.
"Our people are bound with strong ties, and Russia is interested in joining South Ossetia the Eurasian Union. This is one of the key factor that will promote the recognition of South Ossetia by other countries "- said Stepanov.
In general, the participants of the discussion came to a consensus on the undoubted benefit for South Ossetia to join the Eurasian Union.
