Opening the meeting, the RSO Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev briefly introduced the aims and objectives of the Geneva discussions.
"The purpose of the international debates – is providing conditions for security in the South Caucasus, in particular, in South Ossetia - Dzhioev said. - The main task of the discussions –is the development of principles and conditions for the non-use of force in the settlement of the relations between the states of the region. "
The head of the Media Center "IR" Irina Gagloeva, in turn, noted that South Ossetia was transparent in all the processes and actions that were taking place in the Republic.
"All that the Republic is trying to do is for the people to live here in peace. Today we are able to live and develop because the guarantor of our security and stability is the Russian Federation. However, we would like to communicate with the world, we are open to all, "- said Gagloeva.
She has regretfully added that representatives of South Ossetia have not access to other international format, except for the Geneva talks.
"We have realized that this is the only way out, which allows us to maintain somehow the situation and the possible constructive negotiations", - explained Gagloeva.
She noted that South Ossetia had chosen its path of historical development, withoutinfringing upon the rights and interests of the citizens of all nationalities, living in its territory.
"Of course, we have a lot of problems, but we have a desire to solve them, and I think that the same desire also have the international organizations "- emphasized the head of the media center.
The EU Co-chair of the Geneva discussions Philippe Lefort, in turn, has said that the main objective of the Geneva format is the non-renewal of hostilities.
"The problem of the conflict can be resolved if renew the contact between the people, as it is not an ethnic, but a political problem," - said Lefort.
Head of the Armenian community "Ararat" Esma Abaeva, has drawn attention of the co-chairs to the fact that when discussing the relationship of Ossetians and Georgians, most of the Western countries and international organizations adhere to pro-Georgian position.
"Why there is no justice, why they raise a question that the Georgian refugees who voluntarily departed from the Republic, should come back? Why there are not talks about the fact that more than 100 thousand Ossetian refugees have been roaming about the world? "- said Abaeva.
Co-Chair of the OSCE Andriy Deschitsa said that at the meetings in Geneva the attitude to all participants is equal.
"One could not observe the fact that someone is treated better or worse, everybody is treated equally. The most important thing for us is to prevent the recurrence of the armed conflict. We are working on a legally binding document on non-use of force to be signed", - said Deschitsa.
The representative of the Georgian community Julia Babutsidze stressed that Georgia had never complied with any agreement, recalling how one hour prior to the war in August 2008, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili had assured the people of South Ossetia in his commitment to a peaceful settlement.
"However, we all know what happened later - said Babutsidze. - After 1992, we had the absolute transparency of the border crossing, but this has led to bad results. "
In her view, it is impossible to open the border with Georgia without its recognition of the sovereignty of South Ossetia.
Representatives of other national communities have also expressed their views.
