The summit has raised the status of South Ossetia as an independent and sovereign state, told reporters Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity, commenting on the results of the meeting of Leonid Tibilov and Vladimir Putin on May 21 in Sochi. The meeting of the presidents of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, according to him, is of course, a very important political step for the development of the statehood of South Ossetia.
"Russia has protected us from the Georgian aggressor and the first has recognized our independence.

Our foreign policy is pursued with the assistance of Russia. And we should say that we have been resolving the most important and pressing domestic issues of the Republic with the assistance of Russia. Russia has been creating all the conditions for us, and we'll just have to roll up our sleeves, act and work for the good of our state, "- said the deputy speaker.
However, Dzitstsoity recalled that during the year, this is the third meeting that, in his opinion, is a testament that Russia is paying close attention to the problems of South Ossetia, always on time extending a helping hand.
"However, there are still enough urgent issues, and the two presidents have met to resolve them," - he said.
Another major problem for the residents of South Ossetia, according to the vice-speaker, is the absence of the local international passports.
"The people of South Ossetia, who did not have the Russian citizenship, could cross the border only on the internal passports. Now the situation has changed a little bit, and we need to study the issue of local international passports. In short, we have a lot of questions, and I am pleased that all these problems have been discussed at the meeting of the two presidents, "- he added.
Yuri Dzitstsoity expressed the hope that all the high-level agreements will be subsequently implemented.
