Abkhazian delegation led by Presidential Adviser of the Republic of Abkhazia for Military Affairs, Major General Zakan Nanba arrived today in South Ossetia. The delegation has also included the mothers of the Abkhazian fighters, perished in the Abkhaz-Georgian war (1992-1993).
In Tskhinval, the guests were welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of South Ossetia headed by Deputy Minister Ibrahim Gasseev. The members of the delegation laid wreaths at the memorial at the entrance to the Zar road, where in 2008 the Georgian troops had shot civilians fleeing from the war, as well as at the memorial cemetery in the yard of the school № 5.
As the news agency "Res" has been informed by the head of the delegation Zakan Nanba, the purpose of the visit is to meet with the parents of the Ossetian volunteers, killed during the Abkhaz-Georgian war.
"When started the war in 1992, a lot of volunteers from South Ossetia came to help us. Unfortunately, some of them were killed. We have arrived to bow to their parents, to express our gratitude and to invite them to Abkhazia. We will be happy to arrange for them recreation in our health resorts, "- said Nanba.
September 30 Abkhazia will mark the 20th anniversary of the victory in the war with Georgia. Nanba invited the parents of the fallen volunteers to take part in the festivities on this occasion.
Then the guests accompanied by representatives of the Defense Ministry of South Ossetia visited the parents of the six South Ossetian volunteers killed during the Abkhaz-Georgian war; they thanked them and invited to Abkhazia.
"We are united with South Ossetia by a common fate. But we have reached a victory; Russia recognized the independence of our republic. Thanks to all the volunteers from South Ossetia, thanks to their parents. They will forever remain in our history and we will never forget what they did, "- said during the meeting the Chairman of the Public Movement "Mothers of Sukhum", a member of the Public Chamber of Abkhazia Firuz Kapba.
Today, in Tskhinval, was also held a ceremony of presenting the state awards of the RSO to members of the Abkhaz delegation.
