The President of South Ossetia arrived in Abkhazia on an official visit. The Head of State and members of the South Ossetian delegation were received in Sukhum by the President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab.
During the meeting, the Presidents exchanged greetings.
"South Ossetia has always been close to Abkhazia. These are eternal values and we are proud of them," - said meeting Ankvab.
Leonid Tibilov, in turn, said that the invitation to the celebration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the victory of Abkhazia in the national liberation struggle was accepted in South Ossetia with great gratitude.
"Let me to congratulate you personally, as well as all the Abkhazian people on this landmark event - the Victory Day. Our peoples have established strong and fraternal relations. South Ossetian people appreciate the diligence of the Abkhazian people in the formation of its statehood. We are aware of all the achievements of your country," - Tibilov said, stressing that the relations between the two brotherly peoples must continue to develop and strengthen and wished every success to the republic.
Ankvab has also stressed that Abkhazia highly appreciates the role of the South Ossetian volunteers in the liberation war.
"They were fighting among the first. Unfortunately, many of them were killed. We are constantly in touch with the volunteers, and our actions do not take place without their participation. We have similar fate, and we must follow the way of independence together," - said Ankvab.
Leonid Tibilov has assured his Abkhazian counterpart that the leadership and the people of South Ossetia will always be with fraternal Abkhazia.
"We have to share the joys and hardships, help and support each other," - said Tibilov.
The presidents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia also exchanged gifts.
