The South Ossetian side at the meeting in the framework of the mechanisms for prevention and response to incidents (IPRM) declared the inadmissibility of shooting at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia, said the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the RSO for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev after the meeting in the settlement of Ergneti.
"We paid serious attention to the fact that in October were recorded two cases of shooting of border markers near the Georgian village of Tsitelubani," Dzhioev said. - We regarded this as shooting towards our Republic, which could have the most undesirable consequences. There could have happened to be local residents or our border guards. "
The South Ossetian side has stressed that it was a blatant fact that should in no case be tolerated in the future.
The Presidential Envoy has noted that at the meeting the parties gave a positive assessment of the work of the hotline functioning within the framework of the IPRM format.
"We resolve quite quickly many questions through the hotline," Dzhioev said. "Today we have also agreed that in case of conducting military exercises near the border, we will inform each other so that the local population remains calm."
Dzhioev has added that the South Ossetian participants of the meeting once again noted the need for joint work on delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
"But since the Georgian side does not yet want to take part in this, we unilaterally carry out the work for marking the state borderline on the ground. All works are conducted in the territory of South Ossetia in relative distance from the border, "said the envoy.
Dzhioev has emphasized, that the works largely relieve tension in the areas adjacent to the border, and cases of violation near the border markers are reduced at times.
