From the beginning of next week, we begin to send officers to the duty stations — the first 29 people will begin to serve in the formations and units of the 58th army.
South Ossetia’s Defense Minister Ibrahim Gasseev received a delegation from the Russian Defense Ministry led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Sergei Istrakov. The delegation arrived in Tskhinval to address topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the military sphere.
The meeting was attended by deputy ministers, heads of various departments.
In his welcoming speech, Ibrahim Gasseev noted the high level of interaction between the defense ministries of the two countries.
“The Russian side fully supports our Republic, ensuring peace and security of South Ossetia. The military personnel of our units regularly participate in joint training events with units of the 4th Russian military base. The interaction is at a very high level, and all problems that arise in all areas are quickly resolved,” he said.
During the conversation, Ibrahim Gasseev called the completion of the implementation of all points of the signed agreement between the Ministries of Defense of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia a top priority.
For his part, Sergey Istrakov noted that as a result of the joint work, he managed to achieve high results. According to him, the 4th Russian military base stationed in South Ossetia is the guarantor of security of the Republic.
“The servicemen of the Armed Forces of South Ossetia, serving in the Armed Forces of Russia, worthy warriors who are able to perform all the tasks assigned to them. From the beginning of the next week we begin to send officers to the duty stations - the first 29 people will begin to serve in the formations and units of the 58th army. Anyone who wants to serve in the Russian army will serve. In general, according to the results of the last exercises, the South Ossetian military personnel showed very good results,” he said.
During the meeting were discussed issues of reforming the Armed Forces of South Ossetia, raising money allowances, retiring and medical support of South Ossetian military personnel and other relevant topics.
The work with Russian and South Ossetian colleagues - specialists in different areas in the Ministry of Defense was being carried out over two days.
At the conclusion of the work of the commissions of the Ministry of Defense of the RSO and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Ibrahim Gasseev and Sergey Istrakov signed the final protocol. The document outlines further steps for the integrated implementation of all the issues on the agenda.
The Agreement between the Russian Federation and the RSO on the entry of separate units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of South Ossetia into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was signed on March 31, 2017 by the Ministers of Defense of the two countries.
