Europe has already adapted to the fact that the Crimea is Russian, that South Ossetia and Abkhazia are independent
Certain anti-Russian resolutions that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) can adopt during the current session will not matter much and will not have the effect of a bombshell. This opinion was expressed in an interview with journalists by the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, who is a member of the Russian delegation at the OSCE PA session.
“Look, what anecdotal resolutions, unfortunately, were adopted in the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) or in the European Parliament: quite clearly custom-made. Of course, they did not have any weight for European countries. Such documents (resolutions criticizing Russia – TASS note) will not produce the effect of a bombshell ", - summarized Slutsky. According to him, "to adopt such resolutions in a stock manner for a tick is extremely strange."
As an example, he cited the resolutions “introduced in a stock manner”, which refer to the alleged annexation of Crimea by Russia and the occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. According to Slutsky, "Europe has already adapted to the fact that the Crimea is Russian, that South Ossetia and Abkhazia are independent." He has also quoted the statements by the head of the Russian delegation, the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma, Peter Tolstoy, that the OSCE PA devalued itself by adopting resolutions that do not change anything.
So, one of them speaks of Europe’s concern over the collapse of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF). Slutsky has noted that the Europeans do not understand the unilateral decision of the United States to withdraw from the Treaty. Commenting on the amendment proposed by the American parliamentarians themselves, in which responsibility for disrupting the INF Treaty is imposed on the Russian Federation, Slutsky has stressed that on this topic it is necessary to continue the dialogue at the highest level, and the resolution will not affect anything.
